Alleged Drunk School Bus Driver Arrested
11/10/2006 - On 11/10/2006 at 4:55pm The Sterling Police Department arrested Cynthia A Lea, DOB 8/20/68 of Sterling, Ma for OUI-Liquor and Possession of an Open Container in a Motor Vehicle.
Lea was
arrested after receiving several reports of her erratic driving and striking a
fence after dropping of a child in Princeton, Ma. Lea was operating a Grey Jeep
Cherokee with School Bus Markings and red schools lights flashing. The cellular
caller reported the vehicle was speeding, crossing the center divided line and
driving on the opposite lane of travel. Lea was stopped in the Village
Transportation Bus lot after she had exited the Jeep and attempted to drive off
in her personal vehicle. Lea was questioned by Officer Craig P. Pomeroy and
Officer Timothy J. Ploufee and subsequently arrested after failing field
sobriety tests. Lea had a 1/2 - 3/4 empty bottle of Bacardi Rum in her
pocketbook during the arrest. Lea was held and later released on $2540.00 cash
bail. Lea will be arraigned at Clinton District Court on Monday 11/13/06.
