Sterling- The Sterling Police Department arrested Gregory
Babcock of 67 Nashua Rd Pepperell Ma on 10 May 2008. Mr. Babcock is being
charged with unarmed robbery after he attempt to hold -up the Country Side Café
on Redemption Rock Trail Saturday morning.
At approximately
7:45 AM the Sterling police received a call from the Country Side café stating
that they had just been robbed and the suspect had just fled the store. Officers
responded and obtained a description of the suspect that was issued to
surrounding departments.
Princeton Police
Officer Ricky Theveau who responded to Sterling’s call for mutual aid located a
suspect exiting the wood line of the West Sterling ball field. The subject was
detained and was positively identified as the suspect who robbed the store by
several witnesses.
The money was
recovered, as were the clothes he was wearing at the time of the robbery that he
had changed out of. Police also located a list on the suspect of items needed to
commit the robbery and the words “Put your hands up” written on it.
Mr. Babcock did
not have a weapon but he demanded the clerk open the register and to give him
the money and that he did not want to hurt anyone.
Babcock was taken to the Sterling Police Station where he was held until his
arraignment morning, as he was unable to make the $5,000.00 bail.
