Members of the Worcester County Regional Drug and
Counter Crime Task Force with technical assistance provided by New
England State Police Information Network (N.E.S.P.I.N.) cracked a series
of car breaks that have plagued the Towns of Sterling, Princeton, Holden
and West Boylston since September.
A two month long investigation culminated with
the arrest of James Doiron age 51 of 63 Elm St Leominster. During the
investigation Mr. Doiron became a person of interest and later the prime suspect
in the series of thefts. He was placed under surveillance by the task force and
on 13 November he was observed committing a breaking and entering into a vehicle
in the City of Fitchburg. The Fitchburg Police and the Fitchburg College Police
Department placed him under arrest.
Members of the task force participating in the
surveillance and subsequent arrest were; Detectives Al Bourget of the Holden
Police Department, David Johnson of the Sterling Police Department, Jay Dugan of
the West Boylston Police Department and Sergeant Michelle MaCaffrey of the
Princeton Police Department.
Chief Chamberland of the Sterling police
department said, “ This is an excellent example of local police departments
pooling their resources in forming a task force to address crimes”. “Criminals
are not bound by jurisdictional issues and with the formation of Task Forces our
jurisdictional restrictions are reduced”. Although the arrest occurred in
Fitchburg the residents of Sterling, Holden, Princeton and West Boylston all
benefit from the arrest.
Mr. Doiron was arraigned in Fitchburg District Court and released on $500.00
cash bail. The investigation is continuing and the detectives will work closely
with District Attorney Joe Early’s office as additional charges are filed
