The Sterling Police Departments has received numerous inquires from the general public about a recent and on going fund-raiser being conducted by an organization titled the Police Protective Fund.  Apparently this organization has conducted a mass mailing in the Sterling area resulting in several inquires.

Chief Chamberland said that although the Police Protective Fund may be a legitimate fundraising organization he emphasizes that the Sterling Police Department is in no way associated with this organization. Chamberland would like all residents to know that any donations made to this organization does not translate to any financial benefit for the Sterling Police Department. 

The Police Protective fund is located in Austin Texas and the company doing the fundraising is located in Milwaukee. Chief Chamberland said “I am not attempting to discourage anyone from making a donation to this organization however I want people to be able to make an informed decision before they make any contributions”.
