Press Release  - Sterling Police Department

3/22/2007

The Sterling Police Department has joined forces with the Sterling Fire Department in support of Eagle Scout Candidate Matthew Glavin. Matthew’s ambitious and worthy project is to develop and institute a standardized house numbering system for the Town. These numbers are highly visible during low light hours, and allow emergency personnel to locate homes quickly there-by saving precious seconds in emergency situations. We are encouraging all residents to adopt this standardized numbering system even if your house is currently numbered. Many homes have numbers affixed in various locations, different configurations, and sizes. When seconds count emergency responders waste valuable time searching and some times actually guessing if they are at the proper address. These signs and mounting equipment will be provided at a low cost to homeowners. Matt will coordinate the manufacturing and installation of these signs. The signs can be ordered by calling 978-422-8107 or email streetnumbers@sterlingfd.net Please support Matt in this most worthy project. We hope to start seeing many of these signs springing up throughout the Town in the near future.
