Sterling Police Upgrade Radio System
The Sterling Police Department recently went on line with its new ultra high frequency radio system. This new system will enhance the department’s
communication capabilities and will eliminate the many “dead spots” in Town. We will also gain the ability of communicating with other public safety agencies
during critical situations.
There are many people responsible for the successful completion of this project. I would like to publicly acknowledge those individuals and thank them for
their assistance and dedication.
First, the members of the Sterling Finance Committee and Capital Fund Committee both recognized the importance of this endeavor and recommended its
passage at the annual town meeting.
All the Sterling Town residents of who voted overwhelmingly to support this article. All the officers and dispatchers on the department appreciate your
continued support for our safety and the public safety of the town.
To the Sterling Fire Department, especially Chief David Hurlbut and Lt. Tom Kokernak for your technical expertise, guidance and preliminary ground work
getting the original system up and running. Your assistance was truly invaluable.
Officers Craig Pomeroy and David Johnson for their dedication to the project. These officers spent many hours researching material, studying technical
aspects of radio communications, and worked with the many contractors and sub-contractors who put together this communications system. They ensured the
project was completed on time and within budget. I sincerely appreciate the time, effort and cooperation that went into this project.
